Aquarium: The Albino Heckelii (Acarichthys heckelii ‘albino’) is a calmer species. They will not usually eat small fish. Any territorial or aggressive species should be avoided. Though they are not eartheaters, a sandy substrate is ideal. They are known to dig through the gravel, so plan according when aquascaping the tank. Acarichthys heckelii ‘albino’ prefers superb water parameters so excellent filtration is a must.
Breeding Acarichthys heckelii ‘albino’ has been bred in the aquarium. However, it has been quite difficult. Acarichthys heckelii ‘albino’ has a very unique breeding habit. The female is responsible for creating the breeding area. Once complete she will attract a mate and lay the eggs. However, they are cave spawners; if you desire to breed the fish, make sure there is a cave with several entrances, with only one leading to the inner most part.
