  1' Black (Peru)
Scott G - S.E. Michigan   (Friday, March 22, 2013)

Arrived next morning packed efficiently. Straightforward transaction. Bought 1 1' R.B. & 2 1' Blacks (Peru). All healthy looking & aggressively devouring live bloodworms. Blacks ignored frozen brine. Eager to raise them/attempt to school them with other exotic Piranha breeds. Reasonable shipping charge.

Nick - U.S   (Sunday, May 8, 2011)

I bought a 2 inch black piranha from aquascape and he is doing good I put him in a 29 gallon tank till he gets bigger then im gonna put him in a 125 gallon tank. This guy is a beast he eats anything you drop in there and already has grown a little bit. Great packaging came in perfect and healthy. Overall A great piranha and recommend it to anyone who wants an agressive mean big fish. Geat service thanks pedro.

Dax Druckman - Pennsylvania   (Monday, August 30, 2010)

I got mine on Saturday afternoon and I drove about an hour and a half to pick it up. Awesome store and great fish to pick from. I would like to thank Nicole, John, and everybody else that helped me out. The fish is doing very good and I am very happy. I will be back to get more piranha soon. Your store is awesome and your online site is awesome. Thanks.

pretty good fish little shy but im gunna get some black paper to surround most of the tankhe hangs mostly near the filter but if u get one make sure its a dim lighed tank and black water extract helps and also they seem to hunt more at night

  Black Piranha Vs Red Piranha
Gregg - Anderson   (Friday, November 9, 2007)

I have a 150 gallon aquarium, and recently purchased 30 - 2 inch Peru origin Black Piranhas (10 for $100 special) and 20 - 2 inch Red Belly Piranhas (10 for $80 special) from Aquascape. All arrived via fedex overnight express A-OK. All were healthy and in great condition. I've had them for about two weeks now and this has been my observation. The red belly piranhas are by far more agressive feeders as compared to the black piranhas. The red belly piranhas will engorge themselves with food until their bellies are protruding, while the black piranhas seem to be less agressive eaters, and finicky about food that is presented to them. When they do eat, they do not engorge themselves like the red belly piranhas do, but rather eat a limited amount, which is probably one reason why black piranhas have a notorious slow growth rate. Now, in terms of territorial behavior, the black piranhas are by far the most vicious. They have been relentless in terrorizing the red belly piranhas and have killed 5 of them already. The 15 that remain all have the tails chewed down to the flesh area, and I finally had to remove them and place them in a separate 55 gallon aquarium. Mixing black piranhas with red piranhas is like mixing Tsunnis with Shiites. Anyway, I believe the red bellies are more aggressive feeders as a pre-programmed means of survival. They have to eat more often and in more volume to ensure they grow faster to give them a size advantage if they are ever to make it against the black piranhas. I once had a large aquarium with 10 red bellies piranhas measuring anywhere from 8-10 inches long, and one black piranha that measures 8 inches long. They seemed to get along for the most part, but the black piranha was definitely the ruler of the tank. I believe if you were to try it the other way around (10 black piranhas and one red belly) the red belly would inevitably perish even if it had a very large size advantage. Therefore, if you are looking for aggressive feeding action, go with a school of red belly piranhas, but if you are looking for just down right mean and territorial viciousness go with a school of black piranhas.

Cheers,

Gregg
