Common Name: Red Hump Geophagus
Origin: Colombia, Wide spread in Rio Magdalena drainage and Rio Limon basin.
PH Level: 6.0 to 7.5
Diet: Live or Frozen bloodworms, Tubifex, Artemia, Mosquito Larvae, etc.
Temperament: Adult males are typically aggressive towards one another, especially when courting or spawning and only one should be housed in all but the largest aquaria.

Note: Adult males are larger in size and have longer unpaired fin lobes than females. Sexually mature males develop a nuchal hump which can be very pronounced in some individuals.
